Thomas Lavender (b. 2002) is a British-Belgian composer based in London, United Kingdom. A proficient performer, his primary musical focus is on art music composition. Stylistically, he draws much inspiration from minimalist and modernist ideas and aims to combine these with contemporary classical methods. He has written for a variety of ensemble sizes, as well as solo instruments. He enjoys exploring composition in the world of visual media, and has created two short films.Â
Thomas completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Sheffield in 2023 under the supervision and guidance of Amir Konjani, Dorothy Ker, and Adrian Moore. He then continued his studies with James Weeks at Durham University, where he achieved an MA in Music along the Composition pathway in 2024.
