Thomas Lavender (b. 2002) is a British-Belgian composer of contemporary classical music. Inspired by the sonic environments that surround him, his work explores the rich possibilities of sound in the 21st century. He seeks to situate his voice within them through an ongoing exploration of contemporary methods and aesthetics.
His compositions span a wide range of instrumental and vocal combinations. He particularly enjoys collaboration, working with like-minded individuals to create music and art that he and others enjoy experiencing. He is also an experienced arranger and orchestrator.
Thomas completed a masters degree in composition at Durham University in 2024 under the supervision and guidance of James Weeks. Prior to this, he obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Sheffield in 2023, where he studied with Amir Konjani, Dorothy Ker, and Adrian Moore.
